Carramore National School was built in Casey's land in 1853 and it stayed open until 1913. We can still see the ruin of this old school. Our new school, St. John's N.S. was built in 1913 in Carramore and it was the parish priest who organised this.In 1923 our school was enlarged. A new classroom at the front of the school was built and this classroom is still being used today.We have a list of all the teachers that have taught at Carramore N.S. They are Martin Casey, Katie Touhy, Joseph Caron, Katie Rushe, Dominick Caron, Mary Caron, Francis Haron, Katie Browne, Winifred Haron, Catherine Judge, P.J. Mc Nulty, Mary Carney, James Hanley, John Cassidy, Mary Durkan, James Mc Loughlin, Mary O'Hara, Thomas O'Hara, Mai O'Hara, Margaret Mc Nulty, Ellen Keane, Thomas Keane, Mary Keane, Maureen Durkan, Renee Coffee, Nuala Cahill, Anne Moylan and Anne Marie Kelly. The teachers that are teaching here today are Ena Kilcoyne, Fiona Jennings and Triona Mc Carthy. We also have had many substitute and visiting teachers through the years.Fr.Dan O'Mahony is our parish priest and Geraldine Ward is our secretary. Many of the past pupils of this school have children or grandchildren who go to the school today. |
